At least the 'white stuff' has now gone (but coming back on Thursday - uggghhh!!!). I hope you are all coping with your Christmas shopping? I went out for a couple of things today and (after 3 hours) came back with almost nothing!

Why not make someone a lovely 'hand-made' present this year. I am sure they will appreciate all the time and effort you have put into it - and most importantly, it will be unique!

One thing that the snow does give is that 'Chrismassy' feeling (only 4 weeks left to go to the big day) that was missing before. Saying that it would have been wonderful to actually have the snow fall on Christmas Eve!
Let me know how the snow is affecting you (wherever you are) and whether it gives you inspiration to craft (think warm and cosy, indoors etc.).

I love this photo as it was taken when Kate was watching television in her room. I called her name and as she looked up I took this photo. I called it 'Day Dreamer' as that what it looked liked to me at the time - in a world of her own!

I know Christmas is an expensive time and therefore, I have decided to reduce some Christmas stock now (instead of waiting for the January sales!). Stocks are VERY LIMITED on some lines though, so you have to be quick to get the bargains you want!
Saturday, 13 November 2010
Thank you to all that have left comments so far. Remember that every comment gives you an entry into the draw (but only 1 comment each day please). If you have a blog and you feature my blog giveaway on your blog I will give you another entry into the draw.

I have scanned both images into a scanner and used a software programme called Panorama Maker 3 to 'stitch' both halves of the scanned image together. It works beautifully most of the time but sometimes it can distort the image a bit.

Crafter's Workshop 6x6 Template - Mini Doodad
Glitz Design clear stamp - Love Nest Bird Cage
ZVA Creative - self adhesive crystal embellishments in Jet Black

To get your hands on this little lot - here's what you have to do:

Seeing as it is coming up to Christmas I will leave this blog candy draw open until Christmas Eve (so lots of chances to get your name in the draw!).
The draw will take place at 1.00 p.m. Christmas Eve and I will use a random number generator to select the winner. Good Luck!

The layouts were both quick and easy to do (as the patterned papers are already in strips of 2x12), just cut them to whatever size you want, ink the edges and stick to your background cardstock. I used the red dotted swiss card to mat my photos, cut some swirls in green card (to add the flowers to). The options on adding the buttons to the flowers are plenty. I opted for sewing them to the flowers on the first layout and just sticking (double-sided tape works well) them on the other layout. You could use other mediums, such as twine, wool etc. to give more texture to the layout.
I think flowers and buttons are really versatile embellishments you can have on your layouts as there is so much you can do with them - give them a try!

Congratulations to Jaqi W you are the winner this time!
Thank you to everyone who entered.
Sunday, 31 October 2010
The Draw will take place tomorrow (1st November). I have allocated numbers to those who have entered so far. The number of entrants hasn't been very high this time, so I will look to see whether I can tempt more people to join in next time by offering something which has a wider appeal.
Some followers have entered more reviews into the draw but, unfortunately, I cannot count them as the rules state - 1 review per day!
You can find a list of entrants at the end of the page - good luck to all who have entered.
Friday, 22 October 2010
Everyone will have their favourite but all the designs are really fabulous and of course each patterned paper range co-ordinates (so no problems matching colours!).
Remember there is still time to get your reviews done (for extra chances in the draw for the Blog Candy) - it ends on 31st October.

The papers are from Cosmo Cricket - Honey Pie, and have been around for a while now but are lovely 'girlie' papers - so fresh! I love the colours of pink and green together. I have had to photograph the layouts as I tried the scanner but it wasn't playing today! The title was cut from one of the papers that had words all over it (so helpful when looking for different ways to add titles to your layouts). For the layout itself, I just cut a circle (using a saucer as a template) and then cut 1.5" circles on the cricut to make the 'flower' shape.
I have used this layout several times on 12" x 12" layouts, so had to downsize this for these 8" x 8" layouts. I rounded the photo to fit the large centre circle and just added the chipboard flower and heart to finish. This second layout was simpler to do as I just used what was left over from the previous layout. This time I made a larger chipboard flower, cut a circle of patterned paper for the centre and added some bling (Prima pearl). The letter 'L' is a die-cut letter that goes with the papers.I hope the learners enjoy doing these layouts as it is fun to make your own chipboard embellishments rather than buying them.
I am receiving a delivery of the new Glitz papers on Friday - there will be some 'special offers' on full sets of papers. Check the website on Friday for further details!

We had cake (some were very good and had Weight Watchers cake) but apparently they tasted just as good! I say apparently because my philosophy on cake is - the naughtier the better (calorific value naughty that is!).
I asked members if they wanted to share their layouts on the blog and they were happy to do so. So next time I will photograph the finished ones and post them on the blog for you all to see.

These layouts were designed for 'newbies' to scrapbooking and therefore are quite simple (but effective) in design.
Sunday, 3 October 2010
The weather was awful but didn't deter the crafters (we are made of sturdy stuff!). It is nice to meet up with fellow scrappers as a lot of people who attend these shows are cardmakers.
I didn't take any photo's this time but I do have some more 8" x 8" scrapbook layouts to post next week.

Wednesday, 29 September 2010
I know I promised to post the 8" x 8" layouts - they are on my list 'to do'.
Saturday, 25 September 2010
I make the 6"x 6" chipboard albums and the 'name albums' quite happily but for some reason I seemed to get a mental block on what to put on the 8" x 8" size. I think I am conquering the block as the weeks go by though.
Once I have scanned the layouts in I will post them for you to see and get some feedback on what you think.

I haven't actually used a sewing machine for ** years (too many to say), but I will give you a clue - I was only about 16 or 17 years old the last time I used one. My eldest daughter is now 36 (so you work it out!).
Anyhow, I am hoping by the end of the day to have had a go at stitching around the page on my scrapbook layout! I will let you know how I get on.

Les Dennis (Family Fortunes) and Michael Starke (Sinbad from Brookside) were doing a spot of food shopping and getting plenty of nods and nudges from people in the shop (some doing a double-take). Apparently, they are starring in Hairspray at The Sunderland Empire (until today).
I know they are not exactly 'A' listers (not like bumping into Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt) but still they had people talking.
Just like to add - good luck to everyone who is running (for very good causes) in the great North Run tomorrow. I hope you raise loads of money for your charities. Fingers crossed the weather stays fine for you all.

a) Write a Review on any product that I stock in The Scrapbook Garden - it would be lovely if you have bought the product from me (but this is not essential).
b) To do this, you will have to create an account with The Scrapbook Garden. This will then allow you to log in, find the product you wish to review and click on reviews. This will take you to another screen that will let you write a review on that product.
c) For every review that you write, your name will be entered into a prize draw and the winner will be decided by a random number selector.
d) RESTRICTIONS: Only one review can be written each day - but don't worry, the draw will not close until 31st October 2010 so you have plenty of time to get in several entries!
Good Luck to you all!

At the Scrapaholix Club last night, we were all busy with our buttons (in the crafting sense that is!). I saw lots of layouts being undertaken with buttons galore. I forgot to take my camera but will ask the members next time if I can photograph their layouts to share with you.
Monday, 13 September 2010
I didn't sew the buttons on this page - just used double-sided tape. I find this works ok. You could also use something like Glossy Accents, which works well.
Will update you on what we get up to at the club tomorrow night on Wednesday.

These are the days I like (apart from actually teaching classes) when you just go out into the community and meet the people. I managed to inspire a number of people to try their hand at scrapbooking and I am starting to teach a course next week.
It is always exciting starting a new course (but on this occasion I have actually met all the students) as getting to know everyone individually is such a joy. I think I was born to do this (scrapbooking and teaching).
I will finish off all the layouts I promised earlier in the week and post them over the weekend.
Sunday, 5 September 2010
I am waiting for a new line of patterned papers from Advantus, which will include Halloween and Christmas designs - hopefully these will be in stock by the middle of September.
I have 3 layouts on my table, waiting to be finished (for Boldon Scrapaholix Club on 14th September). I will upload images when I have them completed. The technique this month is - buttons!

I met and had many conversations with some really lovely people. I have realised that many people who attend these shows love making cards but would also like to try scrapbooking but find the prospect a bit daunting. Several people have expressed an interest but don't feel they are able to produce layouts that are 'good enough'. Rubbish! When I first started some of my layouts were pretty basic but that is the beauty of scrapbooking, your layouts grow with you.
Just like card making, you start off with simple designs, then when you are feeling a bit more confident, you start experimenting with more complex designs. Scrapbooking is just the same. I say if you want to do scrapbooking, give it a go. Start by making one layout using just 1 photo. If you are looking for inspiration, try a website called 'Page Maps'. It is brilliant at giving you loads of ideas and they produce a monthly printable sheet that gives you ideas for layouts. Even if you have been scrapping for ages it can just kick start your creative juices! Give it a try.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who came along yesterday and an extra special thank you for those that took the time to stop and say 'hello'.
Thursday, 19 August 2010
If you live in the area please pop along on Sunday between 10.00 a.m. - 3.00 p.m. as there will be plenty of retailers there with loads of goodies for sale (at very reasonable prices I am sure).
Details of the show can be found under 'Diary Dates' on this blog. I hope to take some photo's of the 'shop' when it is set up to show you all.

Went looking yesterday at new computers but didn't buy anything as it was Friday 13th (I am superstitious!) and didn't want to chance it.

I have been busy with the Scrapaholix Kit for August (nearly there). I have 2 potential layouts lying on my dining table (eating in the kitchen again tonight!). Just making sure before I stick it all down then I will post what I have done.
Sunday, 8 August 2010
Today, they left a lovely 'thank you' message in the guestbook on my shop website. It is little things like this that make working for yourself worthwhile (so I can forget about my tax return waiting in the corner of my 'office' for another day!).
The reason I am relating this story is this: if you are looking for any particular product, please email me your request. I cannot guarantee that I can get it for you but I will try my best.
I have been really busy this weekend but I do have some layouts to upload - will do this sometime next week - promise!
